Invitation to Evangelist's conference 2009

Let me invite you evangelists to be with us in Myrtle Beach for the bi-annual Impact 21 Conference December 30-Jan.1,’09. Dr. Steve Pettit and I started this conference in 2000 to be a blessing and encouragement to our fellow evangelists and those entering evangelism. We will have great singing, preaching and fellowship for three power packed days. Special arrangements are being made for RV parking, condo rentals, golf packages etc. at greatly reduced rates. This will be a wonderful way to start a new year as we sharpen ourselves for cutting edge preaching in the 21st century.General sessions and workshops are planned dealing with varied subjects pertaining to the life and work of the evangelist. Special ladies sessions are being planned for the wives.

A Word From the Editor: Keys to Better Evangelistic Preaching Part II

By Dr. Tom Farrell
In the last issue of VOTE, I started a two part editorial entitled KEYS TO BETTER EVANGELISTIC PREACHING. We discussed both The Provocation for and The Preparation for Evangelistic Preaching. In this issue, I want to address two final keys that should help us all be better preachers of the gospel.

Evangelizing a Jehovah’s Witness

By Mark Herbster
One of the most devastating cults in our culture today is the Jehovah’s Witness.
It is essential that every Christian understands how to minister and evangelize someone who has been indoctrinated with this false teaching. It is helpful to know the history of the cult, and some of the heresies of the cult, as well as some Bible helps in evangelizing a JW!

Ashamed of the Gospel?

By Dr. Lance Ketchum
“I am not ashamed of the gospel.” This is much more than a statement of fact. This is an affirmation of faith and a commitment to proclaim a message.
This statement is a declaration of war upon the blinding forces of evil and the pervasive darkness of satanic deception. I hope you are targeting people for the presentation of the gospel.

Pastor's Perspective: Island Evangelism- Harvest Ministries: Guam

By Jared Baldwin
This narrative is just a testimony of what God is doing here in our part of the world. He alone receives the glory for what is happening here.
I also realize that each ministry is unique and their programs are custom made for their location and culture. Some of the privileges and challenges that exist on our island are different from stateside locations. Yet, even though we are geographically unique, we are missionally united with other Bible centered, God glorifying, and Gospel preaching ministries through the world.

No Place for Truth by David Wells

Reviewed By Harold Vaughan
Originally published in 1993, this classic expose was dubbed by TIME as “A stinging indictment of evangelicalism’s theological corruption.” What a description! The back cover reads, “Written expressly to encourage renewal in evangelical theology, No Place for Truth explores the interface between Christian faith and the modern world in entirely new ways and with uncommon rigor.

Book Review: Intoxicated with Babylon by Steve Gallaghor

Reviewed by Harold Vaughan
Divided into three sections, these fifteen chapters issue a prophetic call back to holiness
. Intoxicated with Babylon contains a careful presentation of the origin and history of the world system. This is a tremendous aid in understanding the world’s deceptive lure and its profound impact on Christians and churches.
